Osaka Naniwa Tinware has a history dating back to 1679 (Enpo 7th year) when \"tin-drawing in Naniwa and Sakai streets\" was recorded, indicating its presence and circulation in the Kansai region during the mid-Edo period. It became Japan\'s largest tinware production center from the mid-Edo period to the late Taisho to early Showa period, with around 50 workshops and over 300 craftsmen. Despite challenges during WWII, it was designated a traditional craft in March 1983 (Showa 58) by the Minister of International Trade and Industry.
This beautifully boxed set features two tin tumblers with a fine hammered texture reminiscent of rock melon skin—subtle, refined, and pleasing to the touch. Their unique finish reflects light gently while offering a comfortable grip that enhances the drinking experience.
